Day #446:” Begin somewhere; you cannot fulfill your destiny on what you intend to do”

Today I want to share a note someone sent me a few weeks ago when I complained I didnt have enough resources to start the project I have been putting off since the beginning of the year. I dont know where it came from but it was spot on and what I needed at that time. I want to share it her. Enjoy.

Everyone who got where he is had to begin where he was. Only one person in a thousand knows how to really live in the present. Our problem is that we seldom think of what we have, but we always think of what we lack.

The failure wishes he could do things that he can’t do. He thinks little of what he can do. What you can do…you can do.

“We don’t need more strength or more ability or greater opportunity. What we need to use is what we have” (Basil Walsh). People are always ignoring something they can do and trying to do something they can’t. Learning new things won’t help the person who isn’t using what he already knows. Success means doing the best we can with what we have.

The main thing wrong with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished. When you are through improving, you’re through. Use whatever you have been given, and more will come to you. Never leave well enough alone. “Opportunities multiply as they are seized; they die when neglected” (anonymous). “Every ceiling, when reached becomes a floor upon which one walks and now can see a new ceiling. Every exit is an entry somewhere” (Tom Stoppard).

The person who gets ahead is the person who does more than is necessary–and keeps on doing it. No matter how rough the path, some forge ahead; no matter how easy the going, some lag behind. Begin somewhere; you cannot fulfill your destiny on what you intend to do.

The best way to better your lot is to do a lot better. Build on the lot in life that you’ve been given.
